it now is seen by a majority, according to a republican pollster, as costing jobs. you are just indifferent to the fact that places like flint, michigan and ohio have been wiped out, to say that that is part of globalization, that is wonderful, as long as you don't have a cambodian bureau chief coming to your news organization and working for 1/10 of the price and costing jobs in the journalistic world. >> this is part of whose side are you on. >> it is question of dealing with facts. this is a good example that came out of political -- we increase tariffs on sugar. why? to protect our own domestic industry. what is the candy manufacturer do when the prices go up?

he moves to cluster rica -- to costa rica. that is not romney, that is not obama. that is protectionist actions by congress that raise the tariffs. >> i think that the facts argue against each other sometimes, . the eighty or subsidized elsewhere. -- they are subsidized elsewhere. we cannot make a lithium and solar panels. all of this is part of whose side are you on, trying to put romney on the camp of people like them. have we ever elected a president with a swiss bank account? >> no. >> i don't know. if we, charles? >> i am not running for the presidency, and if i did, i would not have a swiss bank account. i have no idea. johnson was the most scrupulous businessman in american history. it was nothing in the past that would suggest financial shenanigans? come on, give me a break. what is going on here is that clearly, this is a campaign by obama -- cannot run on his record, so he runs -- margaret is right, fairness, who cares about you. the counter argument is quite strong, which is, you talk about fairness. among african-americans, unemployment is a 14%, among hispanics, 11%. youth unemployment is skyrocketing. the longest string of unemployme8% unemployment in amn history. if you care about americans, you want to start not by redistribution of wealth by strengthening and getting a growing economy. >> we have heard this many times before, tax cuts for the

wealthy. >> let's not hold the vast majority of americans and our entire economy hostage while we debate the merits of another tax cut for the wealthy. >> i mean, the very idea of raising taxes on small business and job creators at the very time we need more jobs is the sort of thing that only an extreme liberal, wit. -- could come up with. >> "this sort of thing only an extreme liberal could come up with." is barack obama an extreme liberal, margaret? >> i don't see it, but i guess it romney and his supporters to do. i don't give advice to campaigns -- mark once did -- but i look at the objections to the tax cuts going away, and say why not fashion a program where the 3% are covered, because the argument is that you will hurt small businessmen. well, it will cut 3% of small businessmen in the united

states, and those are accountants and lawyers. are these people we need to protect? mark here thinks we do. he is shocked that there would be a tax increase on those people. but the republicans get this argument, hurting the job creators. you are not hurting job creators letting those tax cuts labs. >> aren't the democrats divided on this? don't pelosi and some of the others want a $1 million cut off? >> tell me about the jobs created by the bush tax cuts on the wealthy. how many jobs did that create? please, answer. >> zero, how's that? >> the silence was deafening. >> whenever you hear this point that you are taxing job creators if you raise those taxes, i did not see the jobs that god created when they passed the tax cuts.

>> clinton raised taxes and created jobs. >> charles. >> where do you start? >> anywhere you like. >> the joint committee on taxation, which is not a right- wing organization, reports that 52% of small business income will be affected by this hike in taxes. obama himself in 2010, when he agreed with mcconnell to keep tax rates where they are, said many times, you don't raise taxes in recession. we are not technically in a recession, but we're clearly in a stagnant economy. that is to " obama himself on this. when it pleases him politically, he says he will not raise taxes because it will hurt the economy. when he needs it as a fairness issue in an election where he is not getting traction, he will sit opposite. the point is that even if you have these tax hikes, it would

raise the maximum of $8 billion a year. we have a $1.30 trillion deficit. it is satisfaction, a shiny object you are putting over here. -- it is a distraction, shiny after to have -- shiny object you're putting over here. if you one, you have to do it with tax reform, entitled rent reform, and has to be across the board paid it will not have any effect on just the top 2%. >> margaret mentioned that i advise campaigns. as the veteran of four losing campaigns, one of the most important things you have to do is sit down and which it your own candidate. do the research on not just your opponent but your own candidate, find out if there's anything that could bite us.

remember george w. bush's drunk driving arrest that was revealed that began before the 2000 campaign and came close to costing him the election. romney has more people. they did this with him -- as smart people. they did this with him. things like the swiss bank accounts, bermuda, luxemburg, the tax rates -- romney went right through the stop sign. his self-absorption with money was so deep and pervasive -- this is a man who has been running for president for most of the 21st century. this is not something that just jumped out at him. he has allowed barack obama to put him squarely on the defensive. as far as jobs are concerned, one figure to remember. there were more jobs created last year under barack obama in the private sector that under the eight years of george w. bush's presidency in the private

this is going to die in the senate. why are they doing this? >> politics. i think that chris van hollen is right in the sense that it alienates a lot of people, because they're -- there is a support for the affordable care act. >> i am not sure there is that much support. if there was that much support, why is it that two days after obama had this tremendous victory, the supreme court, where it upheld the obamacare act -- two days later, in his radio address, he doesn't have a word about obamacare. state of the union address this year, he had one sentence on it. he is running away from this as much as he can because he knows it is is a loser, and in particular at the congressional and senate level, people know that careers have been handed over this and they don't want it to end their own

takes it with grace, and then goes off script about how obamacare will cost jobs -- >> i thought the speech was written by committee. i thought the first part was written by his black affairs adviser, because it has him say that there is great disparity in the country and these have not been corrected. then he turns and he goes to his policy people and they say, the way we are going to address these disparities, the first thing i am going to do is approve the keystone pipeline. that will take care of the problems of urban america. >> democrats are the ones who give handouts to every ethnic and political and sociological work, and republicans argue that if i can improve the economy for all americans, i will help all americans. >> he went off script to get another boo. >> i believe you have an opinion on this, mark. >> i do.

mitt romney deserves credit for going to the naacp. as far as boos, these guys have never been to a yankees-red sox game. .o one was hurt it was refreshened to see him give the same speech to an audience where most are supported his opponent. david obey once gave the same speech to aipac that he gave to the arab anti-discrimination leak, and offended both groups. it was an act of total political integrity. while i would not put romney in the same category, he deserves credit for doing it, and i would like to see more candidates appear before a friendly audiences -- unfriendly audiences. >> can i commend mark for his

voters. they know that. the people pushing for these suppression measures know dogg one well that that is the impact. >> how significant is voter fraud? >> you don't find significant instances of voter fraud. >> everything in this nation's history has been about expanding the vote, making it more available, including more voices. we started with white males who owned property and that two white males who did not own property, -- be expanded that to white males who did not own property, then to african- americans, women, 18-year-olds. this is the first attempt, a calculated attempt, made a mistake, to limit the electorate. when the pennsylvania elelegislature boasts that we are living, that this -- thing, that is the key.
